the breakdown for the Down B.E.A.T. as of 3/30 at 8 PM!!!

Ok guys, I had to wait on some things before I could post this info, but here is the most current breakdown of the Down B.E.A.T that I have for you:

* After the Bill's disaster, haha, we had to find another location. The booking guy at Great Scott was nice enough to give us Tuesday night, the 28th of April, on such short notice, but I had to decline. It would've been nice to do it, but after discussing it with some of you, I realized it wouldn't be the best think. I think we can all agree that it wouldn't be beneficial for all parties involved to have it on a Tuesday night, the week before finals, all the way in Allston. My thought is I'd rather not do it at all than do something that isn't worth it.

* That been said, we should refocus all our efforts towards the b-good show. At this point it seems like it's going to be our only show, so let's have fun with it. I think we may have to remove the unplugged from the title though. It makes sense since there is only one show now.

* The new time for the b-good show is 4 PM. Someone brought up the point that it is on a Sunday, and shops close earlier, so it makes more sense to make it earlier.

* Ian Walsh will be the 5th participant in our show. Sinc. the Management and Ali Mc. are out.

* Whoever is responsible for getting the facebook event rolling, please do it asap, and send out an invite to all of us, and make us admins, so we can send out the invite to all our friends.

* I talked to Alex, and he did me a solid, and pushed the bakesale date to this Friday, from 11 AM to 6 PM. Whoever can't make it, it's ok. We should have enough people to breakdown the schedule. At tomorrow's meeting, we can figure out the baking and sale schedules.

* Niky, how are the flyers coming along? Are you taking care of the design or printing as well? Also, not that there is no more (big show), I don't know what we should do about that. Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow night.

* David was able to score us some T-Mobile phones to give away at the show. David, great job!!!

* As soon as I post this, I will email all of you the current flyer for the b-good show that I would like everyone to print out and start spreading around the school. Please and thank you!!!

I know that things aren't going how we planned, but that's the kind of experience we're hoping to get from this whole thing, a real one!!!! Let's just enjoy it. Ok, so I think that's it for now. I'll see you all tomorrow night!!!

Spike's doubtful for sponsorship

Finally talked to the owner of Spikes about potentially sponsoring one of our two shows. He said it was doubtful it was anything they could do because of the economy this year. But if I had some printed information for him requiring specific details on what sponsorship entails he might reconsider. Just giving ya the heads up.

Newbury Comics

Newbury Comics shut us down, they are not interested in sponsoring the show. I got the pretty distinct feeling it was because I didn't have a lot of details, like when or where the show is taking place!

facebook event

Hey before I make the facebook event for the DownB.E.A.T : Unplugged show, I wanted to confirm the time of the show.....just a little concerned because 8pm seems a little late to start on a Sunday. All the retail stores close at 6, so i think we could draw more people if we started the show a little closer to 6.

Apologies for missing the meeting.

I got so caught up in midterms tuesday that I completely forgot about the meeting!  Apologies!  I am still working on getting Spikes as a sponsor.  The manager said there said they sponsor events all the time.  All I need to do is get in contact with the owner.  Will keep you guys posted on the progress!   Hope everyone has a good spring break!

Hey everyone!!  I talked to Chris last night at the MEISA meeting because Tom wasn't there, and he said that Tom would definitely be interested in performing at our show.  The show is the weekend of the MEISA trip (4/1-4/3) to NYC so it's close, but Chris said for me to e-mail him with all the details like times and stuff, so it should be all good.
I also reached out to Trident cafe and Cafe Royale with an e-mail with a slightly personalized copy of the the business letter, but I haven't heard back from either one.  I'm not sure if I was supposed to call them first or not, but I will ask you guys at the meeting tonight.  See you soon.

Acoustic Show

Margaret Glaspy is confirmed for April 5

-Chris-

3/3 Meeting Notes

That's great! Thanks, Tim.

Okay, so now we need to decide on a lineup for 'Down B.E.A.T. Unplugged' (that's what we settled on for the acoustic set, correct?). Yesterday we heard that the following artists showed interest in being a part of this event:

Johnny Nicholson
Jennah Bell
Margaret Glaspy (needed confirmed dates)
Emily Elbert (needed confirmed dates)

5 sounds sufficient. As for the act that will play the Unplugged as well as the main event, we said that we would ask Blue Pages. Please let me know who will be speaking to them about playing.

If you were responsible for reaching out to the above artists last week, please get in contact with them to confirm for 4/5.

Sponsors

Pho Basil - Nicky
GAP - Tara Colella
Crazy Dough's - Dave
Crunk Energy & First Act - Jessie
Grammy U & Studio - Karim
Newbury Comics - Chris

Chaz & Tex, please choose a location to reach out to!

Sponsorship Proposal for Down B.E.A.T. 2009.

The Event:

The Berklee Entrepreneur Action Team, a Berklee College of Music organization for young entrepreneurs, is hosting the Down B.E.A.T. 2009, a concert event that will feature five up and coming Berklee bands. Details are still being worked out, but the event is a follow up to the Battle of the B.E.A.T., which took place in December 2008 and was a massive success, with hundreds of college students, faculty and alumni in attendance at the event, which took place at Bill's Bar. This year, the B.E.A.T. is striving to host an even larger and more successful event as we encourage and promote the artistry of Down B.E.A.T. 2009's five promising acts. The B.E.A.T. is a nonprofit organization and needs your support to help make this opportunity for Berklee musicians possible.

Your sponsorship will will not only help bring to light the talents of five student bands, but it will also give you the opportunity to place your product in front of a wide-ranging demographic group of concert attendees. The audience will include Boston- area, especially Berklee students, faculty, staff, area alumni, and many members of the music community of Boston. Your support will also be promoted to a larger audience through Berklee's various media outlets, both online and traditionally.

This event will expose the audience to the wealth of music being produced by Berklee students. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to promote ____________ through inclusion in marketing materials, and promotional opportunities on site (signage, a table with promotional materials, product giveaways, etc).

The promotional opportunities for ________ extend well beyond the on site opportunities though, as the Berklee community reaches from the 5,000 musicians at the college to thousands of alumni, online students, and the music community at large. We invite you to consider making a sponsorship contribution to Down B.E.A.T. 2009 in any way that you see fit, whether it be a money contribution, or the donation of a product or gift certificate that the B.E.A.T. can raffle off at the event.

We appreciate your consideration of this proposal. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions, and thank you for your time.

_____________

Please use something of that nature...if you want to use this exact one, please tailor it to the business that you are reaching out to (ie- place the name of the company in the blank lines). Also, try and make it personal- do not just copy and paste this, but include your own greeting, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions!!!

4/5 Confirmed

Hey all, just wanted to let you know 4/5 at bgood is confirmed for our acoustic show so you can start talking to artists. Although we need to figure out exactly who we are asking so we don't ask too many people and have to turn somebody down in the future.
